This is a picture of a baseball dugout, when the sun was beginning to set to create the effect of the shadows on the benches. In this photograph I used some concepts of composition and technical aspects, such as line, repetition, rule of thirds, and black and white vs. color. This picture has lines all throughout the picture with the lines on the benches and the dugout, then the shadow lines created by the vertical beams of the dugout. Repetition is shown by the repeting portion of the dugout, the four sections repeted; seperated by the shadowed lines. The rule of thirds, is shown through thr ground, the dugout and then the piece of vertical wood on the top of the dugout. I shot this photo is both black and white and color and discovered that in color the photo is more dynamic and rich. Especially with the lighting creating the shadow, the black and white portrays that shadow much better than portrayed in color.
This is a picture of the floor of the stage in the old auditorium. To shoot this picture i used texture, rule of thirds, focus, compelling subject matter and mystery. By looking at this picture you can see and feel the texture and disgust of the floor. By being zoomed in and close up to the floor, I was able to get all of the texture of the floor captured in the photo. To create the rule of thirds, i have a small piece of the wall below the stage, the stage floor, then the stage above/behind it. By focusing in on the floor I was able to capture all of the aspects of the floor. It was also a compelling subject matter and mysterious because when first looked upon it, it is very difficult to discovery or identity what it is. And I believe that all of the texture of it doesn't help because it makes it look worse and more disgusting.
This is a picture of the reflection of the sunset in the window at the back of the school. In this picture there are concepts of composition and technical aspects; such as line, black and white vs. color, distance and contrast. LInes are shown by the curtains of the window being shown behind the reflection of the sunset. Again I took this photo in both black and white and color, but in the color photo I feel like I lost some of the dynamic between the sunset and the actual window and curtains. With this black and white photo I was able to get the contrast between the sunset and the curtains, and the sky of the reflection and the lower part (the land) of the reflection. I also used the composition technique of distance to determine what distance I would stand away from the window and at what angle to get a good picture of the sunset and not get too much of the window in the frame of the picture.
This is a photo of the reflection of a caroler at my house during the christmas season. I used many different technical aspects when composing this photo. First I used the texture that you see in the carolers feather hat that is slightly sticking out of the side of the photo. Next I used framing, when I cropped the picture to only include the shadow of the caroler, not half of the caroler like my original photo included. I also used black and white for this picture because I feel like the black and white gives the shadow a deeper and more realistic effect when it is shown without any other aspect of color to it. Similiar to the framing aspect, I used distance to determine how close I should have been to the subject to capture all of the elements desired upon in the photo. Another aspect was the focus that I did upon the carolers shadow, causing a slight blur to the actual bodyh of the caroler. SInce it is not clear what the photo is of, it creates a sense of mystery and unexpected composition because you may star to try to determine what the actual object is.
This was one of the painting with light photos that we worked on during class. To capture all of the light in this photo, I used the setting S on the camera with a 20s shutter speed. In this picture I used shape, with the large circular orb and all of the blue lines throughout, I believe it looks like a planet; possibly Saturn with the rings. Along with the slow shutter speed to capture the photo, also usd a long exposure to capture all of the light. This photo, I would consider to be a surprise because while the photograph is being captured you have not idea what it is going ot end up looking like, so when the end result ends up looking like some actual figure it is intriguing and surprising.
This last photo is of the sceneic view in the back of my dentist's office. While capturing this photo I used shape, depth, space, black and white vs. color, and exposure. I first used shape because of the triangle created by the framing of the parking lot against the snow filled grass. I was also able to capture some depth by the foreground, pavement and snow; middle ground, buildings and trees; then background, sky and sun. By creating this depth in the photo, I was also able to create an aspect of space and distance in the photo. As well as many of my other photos, I shot this in both black and white and color and discovered that the black and white picture was stronger and had a greater dynamic between the sun in the sky and the dark, black pavement. I also captured some reflection in the puddle on the pavement, a reflection of the sun shining down.
